Stream The Killers "Battle Born" Mastered at The Lodge!

Pretty sure The Killers don't need any introductions...possibly the biggest band in the world? I'm sure Bono might not be too happy about that statement but we certainly think they are.  Even if you haven't followed their entire repertoire, there is no doubt that these guys have written some of the best pop/anthemic songs over the last decade.

"Battle Born" (Island/Vertigo) was mastered by Chief Mastering Engineer Emily Lazar and her team at The Lodge earlier this summer and it's been incredible to be part of such an amazing release.  Produced and mixed by some of the world's biggest names in audio, the team includes Steve Lillywhite, Damian Taylor, Brenden O'Brien, Stuart Price, Daniel Lanois and Alan Moulder.

The album is due to be released on September 17th but in the mean time, kick back and wrap your ears around their full album stream on iTunes right HERE.

Enjoy!

Foo Fighters Album Mastered by Emily Lazar & Joe LaPorta at The Lodge Leads This Year's Grammy Nominations

The nominations for this year’s 54th Annual Grammy Awards were just announced and legendary rockers Foo Fighters' "Wasting Light" album scooped up a total of SIX nominations including: Album Of The Year, Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance for “Walk,” Best Hard Rock Performance for “White Limo” and Best Long Form Music Video for “Back and Forth.”   Butch Vig, producer for "Wasting Light,"is also nominated for Producer of The Year.

Mastered by Emily Lazar and Joe LaPorta at The Lodge earlier this year, “Wasting Light” (RCA Records/Roswell Records) charted at #1 across twelve countries marking this album as the band's first ever #1 record since their formation in 1994.  It was also certified gold immediately after it's release.

An all-analog production, "Wasting Light" is a truly brilliant record that captures Foo Fighters at their rawest and tightest as a band.  This is thanks to Dave Grohl's insistence not to use a single computer throughout the whole record making process.  The album was tracked by James Brown using a 24 track Studer A827 and an API 1608 console in Grohl's garage and eventually mixed by Alan Moulder in the same garage!  The final mixes were transfered to 1/2" tape and mastered through an entirely analog signal chain at The Lodge.

From everyone at The Lodge, we wish to send our most heartfelt congratulations to Foo Fighters, producer Butch Vig and engineers Alan Moulder and James Brown. We are all extremely excited about this nomination, not only is it a milestone for rock music but it's also a great achievement for women in audio as Emily Lazar is the first female mastering engineer to be nominated in the Album Of The Year category.

And if you haven't seen it, here's Foo Fighters' video for “Walk” nominated for Best Rock Song.

Ronnie Vannucci (of The Killers) Masters Solo Album with Emily Lazar & Joe LaPorta at The Lodge

Ronnie Vannucci, best known as the drummer in pop/rock group The Killers released his debut solo album under the moniker Big Talk on July 19th, via his own imprint  Little Oil/Epitaph Records. The eponymous release was mastered at The Lodge by Emily Lazar and Joe LaPorta.
Overlooking Greenwich Village, The Lodge is one of New York’s most  successful and unique mastering studios; catering to artists that seek an alternative and more personalized approach to mastering. The Lodge’s gear list pays homage to mastering studios of the past; equipped with a slew of vintage outboard gear that has attracted a wide spectrum of artists, including: David Bowie, Foo Fighters, The Shins, Lou Reed, RZA (Wu Tang Clan), Vampire Weekend, Garbage, Depeche Mode, Tiësto, Vanessa Carlton, Morrissey, BT, Natalie Merchant, The Prodigy, Destiny’s Child, and Moby - just to name a few.

When The Killers took a break last year after almost a decade of relentless touring & recording, drummer Ronnie Vannucci finally found the time to give his own songs the treatment they deserve-- and what a treatment they got! Produced by Joe Chicarelli (The Shins, My Morning Jacket) and mixed by Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters), the 12-song rocker also features cameos by  former Killers' bandmate Taylor Milne on guitar, former Weezer bassist Matt Sharp and frequent Killers' live guitarist Ted Sablay.
Catch Big Talk in concert on the West Coast at the end of this month as they perform as a band for the first time ever! They'll also be making their TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live July 25th, so do your homework and peep the new singles "Getaways," "No Whiskey," and "The Next One Living" on Epitaph's SoundCloud right now so you can sing along when they hit the stage!

Foo Fighters Top Billboard Charts in 12 Countries!

The Lodge crew is celebrating yet another #1 record as Foo Fighters' latest, "Wasting Light," clocked in at #1 on the US Billboard Top 100 Albums chart this week!  The album, mastered by Emily Lazar and Joe LaPorta, is now #1 in 12 countries!

In their nearly two decades as a band, "Wasting Light" is, surprisingly, the first Foo Fighters album to ever reach #1! The Lodge is incredibly excited to share this moment with the band as well as with our old friends, producer-extraordinaire Butch Vig (Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana), engineer James Brown (The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Nine Inch Nails) and mix engineer Alan Moulder (Against Me!, The Killers). Last week, "Wasting Light" sold 235,000 copies-- toppling sales for Adele's popular album "21"-- and the first single from the album "Rope," is going on it's sixth week at #1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.

Check out Foo's video for "Rope" on their website here and if you haven't already picked up a copy of "Wasting Light," go get it now! This is an album you don't want to miss out on!
