It’s
been 10 years since the release of The Postal Service hit album “GIVE UP”. Vocalist Ben
Gibbard (of Death
Cab for Cutie),
Producer Jimmy Tamborello (of Dntel and Headset) and Background Vocalist Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiley) never expected that the album
would touch so many hearts and be as successful as it was earning certified
platinum, making it the second biggest selling LP in Sup Pop Record's history.
But
here they are decade later headlining Coachella April 13th and 20th, Lollapalooza August 3rd while playing sold out
shows across North America and Europe on their first tour since 2003. Don't
miss them in NYC at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn June 14th and 15th tickets HERE.
Chief
Mastering Engineer Emily Lazar and her team mastered the reissue of GIVE UP at The Lodge. It includes the
remastered original 10-track album along with 15 bonus tracks, including the
brand new songs “Turn Around” and “A Tattered Line of String,” a previously unreleased
live recording, and every other official recording the band has ever released,
as well as cover versions of Postal Service classics by The Shins and Iron & Wine.
Ben
explains the making behind GIVE UP in an NPR interview as
“The record kind of took on a life of its own and just kind of found its way
into areas that you know Death Cab or Dntel have not even gotten close to reaching. It was odd to
see that just kind of fly off on its own and completely take on a world of its
own.”
Following the release of last year's remastered edition of Viva Hate, EMI UK/ Parlophone Records continue their Morrissey reissue campaign with the release of three separate special editions of the classic Morrissey single "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys" off the album Bona Drag and a remastered version of Moz's second album, "Kill Uncle". Samora and Elena
Pinderhughes are brother and sister who grew up in the San Francisco Bay
Area both are gifted musicians, he on the piano and she on the flute.
Samora, 20, while attending Juilliard wanted to “Paint a
musical picture of the current state of social inequality and injustice in the
United States” while “making a statement through the music and really
trying to create a fundamental transformation of the system through the
arts” he did just that and composed the music for “The Transformations
Suite”.
"The
Transformations Suite"
is a composition in five movements that combines jazz with poetry and spoken
word from Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and Tupac Shakur. It examines the life
of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in order to discover how his vision can continue
to live and breathe in the present day. “It’s for young people, by young
people. It’s about creating a dialogue and using the power of the arts to
create change” explains Samora.
To
raise money for the recording Samora, Elena and a group of his classmates from
Juilliard created a Kickstarter campaign and were successful. “The Transformation Suite” was produced by Greg
Knowles, James
Fallon mixed
by Elliot Scheiner and engineered by Chris Allen. It was then mastered by
Chief Mastering Engineer Emily Lazar and her team at The Lodge.
“The
Transformations Suite”
has been gaining acclaim across the country from New York City to California
and even Brazil. "The Transformations Suite" shows how art can
empower all people - especially youth - to make their voices heard.
SUPPORT
THE SUITE !! See them perform live THIS Saturday, March 23 at Joe's Pub,
NYC starting 7pm.
