It’s
been 10 years since the release of The Postal Service hit album “GIVE UP”. Vocalist Ben
Gibbard (of Death
Cab for Cutie),
Producer Jimmy Tamborello (of Dntel and Headset) and Background Vocalist Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiley) never expected that the album
would touch so many hearts and be as successful as it was earning certified
platinum, making it the second biggest selling LP in Sup Pop Record's history.
But
here they are decade later headlining Coachella April 13th and 20th, Lollapalooza August 3rd while playing sold out
shows across North America and Europe on their first tour since 2003. Don't
miss them in NYC at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn June 14th and 15th tickets HERE.
Chief
Mastering Engineer Emily Lazar and her team mastered the reissue of GIVE UP at The Lodge. It includes the
remastered original 10-track album along with 15 bonus tracks, including the
brand new songs “Turn Around” and “A Tattered Line of String,” a previously unreleased
live recording, and every other official recording the band has ever released,
as well as cover versions of Postal Service classics by The Shins and Iron & Wine.
Ben
explains the making behind GIVE UP in an NPR interview as
“The record kind of took on a life of its own and just kind of found its way
into areas that you know Death Cab or Dntel have not even gotten close to reaching. It was odd to
see that just kind of fly off on its own and completely take on a world of its
own.”
