The Lodge Masters Sky Ferreira Debut Album "Night Time My Time"

Sky Ferreira’s anticipated debut album was recently released on Capitol Records on October 29, 2013.  The 12-track album titled Night Time My Time was mastered at The Lodge, by Chief Mastering Engineer Emily Lazar and assisted by Rich Morales.

Ferreira has grown up in the media spotlight; she is an experienced model, actress and singer who have graced the international runways of Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein.  She was only 15 years old when she signed a record deal with Capitol Records.  Sky’s first breakthrough hit had been her single “Everything Is Embarrassing” off of her Ghost EP, which soared to the top of the charts and became one of 2012’s top tracks.

Even though her single had attained much success, Sky wanted to create music that symbolized her individualism and planned to transition from major label pop to indie rock so she enlisted producers Ariel Rechtshaid (Haim, Vampire Weekend, Charli XCX) and Justin Raisen (Charli XCX) to help her build a strong foundation, suitable for the 21 year old’s full length debut.

Night Time My Time’s release has resulted in an uproar of high praises from well-known publications such as Pitchfork and The New York Times.

“So it’s both a relief and a bit of a shock that Night Time, My Time is not only here, but that it’s one of the most pleasingly conventional and cohesive pieces of pop-rock to come along this year.” - Pitchfork

Combining a touch of 80s pop with a punch of 90s grunge-rock attitude, Night Time My Time has allowed Ferreira to successfully discover her own voice. The album portrays Sky’s true identity as a talented, complex and edgy young artist.  Catch Sky performing live with the Smith Westerns this Monday, November 11, 2013 at Webster Hall in NYC.

The Lodge Mastering: Golden Suits Solo Debut Album Mastered by Emily Lazar

Department of Eagles member Fred Nicolaus, flies solo for Golden Suits’ debut album on Yep Roc Records, mastered by The Lodge’s Chief Mastering Engineer, Emily Lazar and assisted by Rich Morales.

Fred Nicolaus of the band the Department of Eagles, wrote many of the group’s most well known songs, along side Grizzly Bear band member and former NYU roommate, Daniel Rossen.  Standout songs include “No One Does It Like You,”  “Teenagers,” “While We’re Young,” and “Herringbone.”  The Department of Eagle’s last album, In Ear Park, was awarded “Best New Music” by Pitchfork Media and made the New York Times’ year-end top ten list.
His first solo record features contributions from members of the Grizzly Bear, Ava Luna, and Mason Jar Music.  Songs were inspired by a tumultuous year in Nicolaus’ life, which included rat infestations, a bad break up, a trip to Germany, and an obsession with the writer John Cheever.  The new video for “Swimming in ‘99” depicts Nicolaus hopping around NYC, from bookstore to bookstore; buying up as many copies of The Stories of John Cheever as he could get his hands on.  Even the name “Golden Suits” is a reference to the final line of the short story “The Country Husband,” of The Stories of John Cheever.

“Then it is dark; it is a night where kings in golden suits ride elephants over the mountains.”
-John Cheever, The Stories of John Cheever

During the recording process, Nicolaus was forced to think out of the box, which resulted in the Graceland-like one-two beat and female vocals on “Swimming in ‘99.”  He even played the majority of the instruments himself (which includes the guitar, piano, drums and bass).  The indie-folk record took about two years of writing and was completed in Brooklyn.
