Linkin Park’s Sixth Album "The Hunting Party" Mastered at The Lodge

This past Tuesday, June 17 marked the release of Linkin Park’s highly-anticipated sixth and hardest hitting album to date. The Hunting Party is full of raw energy, and as Mike Shinoda described the album it is purely “a rock record.” He stated that he was inspired by 90’s Hardcore-Punk Thrash, which has lead to a much harder yet organic sound; one not as super produced as their records in the past.

Produced by band members, Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson, The Hunting Party was released through Warner Brothers Records. The group spent most of their time recording at Larrabee Sound Studios in Hollywood. They also worked on the album at EastWest Studios, focusing mostly on drums and percussion at that location. Grammy Award-winning music studio engineer, Andy Wallace, was called upon to mix the album, as he also mixed the band’s certified-diamond debut album Hybrid Theory. The Hunting Party was then mastered by Chief Mastering Engineer, Emily Lazar and assisted by Rich Morales, at The Lodge.

The album features guest appearances from Page Hamilton of HelmetRakimDaron Malakian of System of a Down, and Tom Morello of Rage Against the MachineThe Hunting Party’s cover art was designed by Brandon Parvini and was based off of an original drawing by James Jean.

The Lodge also mastered The Hunting Party: Live from Mexico DVD, which is available as a bonus to The Hunting Party album. Recorded on September 12, 2012 at Arena Monterrey, in Monterrey, Mexico, the band won the MTV award for the best World Stage in 2013 for this concert.

Link Park goes on tour with Thirty Seconds to Mars and AFI in a 25-city Carnivores Tour of North America, which kicks off August 8 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The first week of the release of The Hunting Party has included an induction into the Guitar Center RockWalk and a three-song performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and catch Mike Shinoda on Real Time with Bill Maher tonight on HBO at 10:00 PM EST!

Hamilton Leithauser Revisits The Lodge for Solo Debut

The Walkmen’s front man, Hamilton Leithauser, has officially released his solo debut album Black Hours, via Ribbon Music, and critics are calling it “lively, confidant, and charming.” It’s sound is reminiscent of an old classic New York, when late nights were filled with jazz and good bourbon. The album, vinyl and special release Record Store Day Alexandra 7” vinyl were all mastered at The Lodge by Chief Mastering Engineer, Emily Lazar, and assisted by Rich Morales. The Lodge also mastered the very well known You & Me album by The Walkmen

Hamilton Leithauser and Rostam Batmanglij in Alexandra.”

Shortly after The Walkmen announced that they would be taking an “extreme hiatus” Leithauser took to the studio to embark on a solo career.  Even though Leithauser is now solo, his album contains a slew of big-name collabs, including Dirty Projectors’ Amber Coffman, Fleet Foxes’ Morgan Henderson, The Shins’ Richard Swift and longtime Lodge friend, Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend. The Lodge has worked with Swift and Batmanglij, mastering Chutes Too Narrow, Wincing the Night Away, and Port of Morrow for The Shins, and Vampire Weekend, Contra, and Modern Vampires of the City for Vampire Weekend.

Hamilton Leithauser's "I Retired" official lyric video.

The album was produced by Hamilton Leithauser, Rostam Batmanglij and fellow Walkmen guitarist, Paul Maroon.  Leithauser worked alongside Batmanglij, as he also co-wrote the two singles “I Retired” and “Alexandra”. Additional mixing of the tracks by Scott Jacoby and Emily Lazar; both were mastered at The Lodge by Emily Lazar.

Over the past several months, the album has been receiving a lot of recognition: “What’s most impressive about Black Hours is how Leithauser can bounce from one style to another without disrupting the flow of the album.” His recent two-day debut solo performance at Joe’s Pub in NYC was impeccable. The intimate 190 seat sit-down venue on Lafayette Street felt lush and elegant, and seemed to elevate Leithauser’s big-band sound. The album translated to the stage beautifully, as the show sold out both nights.
