Vampire Weekend- A Force to be reckoned with!

Vampire Weekend (XL Recordings) are a band that went from relative obscurity to becoming one of the top indie bands of the year.
The album was mastered by The Lodge’s Chief Mastering Engineer, Emily Lazar and Assistant Joe LaPorta prior to the band’s fall 2007 European/North American tour.

Vampire Weekend formed in early 2006 while attending Columbia University, debuting a blend of unusual African based rhythms, infectious hooks and self-proclaimed “Upper West Side Soweto” style for campus literary societies and parties.
The album was recorded, mixed and produced by the band’s keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij in a variety of locations including a radio station.

Their debut album was released in early 2008 and soon enough the song, "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa", was ranked 67th on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of the year. They also landed a tour with fellow Lodge-ians The Shins and were declared "The Year's Best New Band" by Spin magazine in the March 2008 issue.
