Reggae Icon Lee “Scratch” Perry Collaborates with Andrew W.K. at The Lodge

Mastering Engineer, Sarah Register was busy this summer working with artist/producer Andrew W.K. on Lee “Scratch” Perry’s new album, “Repentence”. The album is due to be released this summer.

Lee “Scratch” Perry is a Grammy award winning reggae icon; also known as “The Upsetter”. His 40-year career span in music has shown his pioneering talents as both an artist and as a producer in Reggae music.
Perry made his debut in the late 50's ska movement after becoming recognized for his innovation of the dub, reggae and the “scratch” turntable effect used by DJ’s everywhere. Perry’s quickly became a highly sought after producer collaborating with such icons as The Clash, Junior Murvin and The Beastie Boys.

A chance encounter between Perry and hyper-energetic artist/producer Andrew W.K. at SXSW in 2006 spawned the musical collaboration that would result in Lee “Scratch” Perry’s long awaited 54th studio album “Repentance”.

“It was great working on this project with Andrew WK; Andrew & LSP had a vision from the start that was a joy to help refine & unfold into the final album.” commented Mastering Engineer Sarah Register.

Guest artists on the album include Moby, producer Don Fleming, bassist Josh Werner of Matisyahu, drummer Brian Chippendale of staccato noise duo Lightning Bolt! and adult entertainer Sasha Grey.
